Field Ecologist

As a Staff Ecologist for Live Oak Associates, Calvin prepares CEQA and NEPA biological evaluations, conducts special status species surveys and monitoring, leads ecological trainings, and conducts habitat assessment surveys. Calvin has participated in burrow excavations for Burrowing Owl and California Tiger Salamander. He has also participated in rare plant species surveys, dip net and seine net surveys for California Tiger Salamanders, construction monitoring, nesting bird surveys, Swainson’s hawk surveys, and Raptor monitoring.

Calvin is a dedicated member of the LOA team who is meticulous in the field and is always looking to expand his knowledge. 



  • Biology, and Botany classes at Cal Poly Humboldt. Currently pursuing BS in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology.

  • Avian surveys and Rare plant species surveys

  • Started with Live Oak Associates, Inc., Oakhurst, CA in July of 2023

  • California Tiger Salamander Terrestrial Ecology Workshop and Rare Pond species Survey Techniques Workshop, Laguna Environmental Center, Santa Rosa, CA, April 2023

  • Calvin has spent his entire life enjoying the diverse ecosystems of California. He was born and raised in the foothills below Yosemite and is excited to use the knowledge he has spent his life gathering in a professional setting.

    Calvin is an avid outdoorsman. When he is not at work, he can be found backpacking, hunting, and fishing in the Sierra Nevada mountains. He can also be found bird watching and botanizing in the hills around his house.
